Details

The Aguilar OBP-1 is a boost only preamp able to be used in conjunction with active or passive pickups. No modification is required for use with Active pickups such as EMG®, Warwick® MEC and other active pickups as we build the pre-wires in house and impedance match the controls for the pickups chosen whether active or passive.

The OBP1 will give you expanded tonal range, adding real lows to your bottom and snap to your high end. Even with the tone controls turned all the way down, your pick-ups will be buffered and keep their clarity even with a long cable run.

Tonally these preamps are aggressive, clear, transparent and have emphasis with the low and low midrange being warm, and with the top end 'presence' like. These preamps do not have gain control onboard. Also, this preamp has a "big" sound. Does not compress the signal like other preamps!

It is recommended to use 18v power for the OBP-1 preamps.

Great Preamp
By Paul Ramsey from on 11/8/2016

This is my favorite preamp.I like the fact that I can boost the amount of bass or treble right from the start. The head room with the 18 volts is great.I have installed these in all my basses.I've tried the OBP 2 with 9 and 18 volts. In my conclusion I found myself going back to the OBP 1.It just works for me.

You cant go wrong with this preamp

These Aguilar OBP preamps are my go to stock installation in the basses I build. Simple install, great sounding and if I ever have any issues I can always get a live person on the phone at Aguilar to answer my questions. I usually add a passive tone control to the circuit on my basses.
