The feature bass this week has a neck made of 13 different parts (wow!)

I’m a new french luthier and I come to present one of my model, the D’ARCO Shakti 5 string bass. It’s a 35″ with 26 fret.

Body woods: lacewood, purpleheart, wenge and flamed maple

Neck woods: 13 parts with flamed maple, wenge and bubinga/wenge veneer

Fretboard: premium macassar ebony

The neck has a dual action truss-rod with 2 carbon fiber rods reinforcement.

Aluminium and brass D’ARCO logo, bronze bell zero fret, gloss in the dark dot.

Hipshot headless bridge with 19mm string spacing, brass D’ARCO string lock.

Aguilar DCB pickups and Bartolini NTMB-918F with volume with actif/passif, blend, bass, mid, treeble ans mid frequency switch. Magnetised preamp and battery cover.

  1. Would’ve liked to hear what she sounds like…. but I have to admit , your work is flawless. The bass is Beautiful. In the near future , I’d love to have you build one for me. I’d have you install different electronics. My choice would be the Delano quad-coils (the oval pickups), and a Glockenklang preamp. I look forward to working with you.

  3. Wow, in my opinion by far the best bass on the site so far!

    I love the headless design as it has to be so well balanced. I also like the wood combo and the electronics are perfect IMHO…

    I’d like one with 17mm string spacing, please

  4. Beautiful craftsmanship. Love the lacewood/purpleheart mix and a pretty cool ‘dragon’-esk gestalt but I can imagine resting the bass on ones knee seated might not be so comfortable due to the purple-heart fins there. Visually it looks super cool but functionally I could imagine it being an issue, at least in that location.
