DiMarzio Model J™s keep the crunchy, focused sound of the traditional Fender Jazz Bass tone while boosting gain and response. This additional presence translates into a bigger sound with improved attack and bite; great for highly articulated finger or pick-style playing where quick response is needed. The DiMarzio Model J™ pickup's sensitivity and deep tone are also the perfect complement to the warm character of fretless basses. Double-stop glissandos and delicate violin-style vibrato speak with a classic, woody voice simply by backing off slightly on the tone controls.

All positions (middle or neck and bridge). The DiMarzio Model J™ was designed to fit the original Fender Jazz Bass, which has neck and bridge pickup cavities of two different sizes. Some current basses use the same length pickup in both positions. The DiMarzio Model J™ set, DP123, consists of two pickups of different lengths, with the neck pickup shorter than the bridge pickup. The pickups are also available individually as DP123S (short) and DP123L (long) if your bass requires either one size pickup or the other. Please refer to the dimensions above for the correct choice for your bass:
Tech Talk:
Unlike traditional Js, each Model J™ is individually humbucking. It's not a stack: each coil picks up one pair of strings. By doing it this way, we keep the resistance down, and the tone clean and clear.

Model J Set w/ Jazz Control Plate Assembly (V-V-T)
DiMarzio now offers pre-wired pickguards and pickup sets with solderless
installation. The prewired pickguards are direct drop-in replacements with
no soldering or assembly required. The prewired sets include all pickups
and controls ready to install and connect with no soldering.
