Can you play "Tom Sawyer"?

A YouTube user going by username “Baltasar Guañabens” plays a song familiar to many bass players, Tom Sawyer by RUSH. And he does it on a 5-string Sire V7.

Tom Sawyer is, obviously, not an easy song to pull off (even when practicing just by yourself, never mind in a full band,) but once you get that “twangy” sound down and your fingers placed just right, it’s an amazing tune to play.

Have you ever tried to play Tom Sawyer on bass?

If you have, did you ever get the line(s) right?

Also, if you have a video of yourself playing the song, even if just a piece of it, feel free to post a link to it.

  1. I have a complete performance, but alas, it is multi-track audio-only. I do bass (with the synth sound!), lead vox and keys on it; the full Geddy.
