In 1979, the song Rise was released by Herb Alpert. This is a great song for bass players just getting into slap bass because the song is slower, and the bass guitar can be heard very well.
You’ve probably heard this song before but never knew the title or who wrote it. Now you know!
could you send me a list of some easy songs to play with bass, please?
What are the cords??

Thank you for posting this video. As you know, there are a myriad of videos that help teach us how to slap, but I have yet to see a video that addresses amp/bass tone settings. Any help in this regard would be appreciated.
Nice six pack Herb!
The bassist on this song is the great Abe Laboriel; – listen carefully for the double stops and chords on the bridge. Very tasty . . . The instrument I believe is a modified Precision Bass w/an additional pickup located at the bottom of the neck; – there’s a photo of Abe playing it on the the album cover of Larry Carlton’s “Sleepwalk”. In a mid-1980’s Guitar Player Magazine interview, he was quoted as preferring P-Basses over Jazz Basses since the “J” didn’t have enough “personality” for him.
This is not actually a slapping track …but a popping and finger style groove?
