This week’s BotW comes from Francesco Hygen Puddu of Oslo, Norway.
“It’s a more international effort, and you at Best Bass Gear were instrumental in making it happen! The neck is made in UK by Status Graphite: it is a stock 5-string graphite replacement neck for Music Man basses, the only custom touch being a dot at the first fret on the side of the neck.
The body is made in Naples, Italy by a great luthier: Gaetano Costanzo. He used a very light American ash for the back of the body and a 1 cm thick face of olive burl, which must be thousands of years old!
You guys provided the Hipshot tuners, a custom Hipshot bridge with the correct string spacing and the Delano hybrid electronics. Thank you very much!
So, an Italian body, a british neck, American hardware and German electronics: it doesn’t get much more international than this.”

Now this is what I call the final piece to my puzzle–I would have to frame this one!!
the bass you have made is absolutely stunning . did u carve this out your self , or did u but the parts from somebody , and i was wondering if u can build me one with frets . please call me my phone number is 1 215 908 8558 in the united states philadelphia pa
Alright . As for the sound, most people can noitce a difference, but I can’t. I hear reviews say that they’re a little hotter without the pickup covers. The guitar will sound the same, but one will bring feedback a little quicker. Hope this has been helpful! Sorry if I wasted your time >_
if you want a more metal sound get some EMG pickups, i like the 81 s and 85 s prsoenally. locking tuners will help keep you in tune longer. new frets moight be a good idea too
@Vince: sorry, I didn’t see your comment before now!
All hardware and electronics are available from the excellent Best Bass Gear, the neck from Status Graphite (www.status-graphite.com), the body was made by luthier Gaetano Costanzo (http://www.myspace.com/gaetanocostanzo), who put it all together.
All the best,
Francesco
