Megadeth “Hangar 18” isolated bass track

Dave Ellefson, bassist for Megadeth, has one of the best metal bass tones – and he plays with a pick.

One of the most amazing things about Dave’s tone is simply how clean it is. Even for diehard “I play with fingers only” bassists, when you hear just how clean and precise Dave delivers the rumble, it will make you want to grab a pick to do what he does.

The current Jackson USA Signature David Ellefson Concert Bass CB IV that Dave uses to get his tone is not something everyone can afford. But the pickups it uses features the EMG 35DC for the bridge and the EMG 35CS for the neck – and you can afford those. 🙂

  1. Nope. All these guys play through ten inch speakers and no one gets any punch and thud from tens. I dont care who you are and what you think you get, you dont. !5 inch speakers are designed for bass and it was those twats at Ampeg that started that nonsense with tens because they couldnt figure out how to make that load of bricks SVT to sound good without ten inch speakers.
