How to build a bass guitar – Finish sanding the neck part 1

In this build step, we begin finish sanding the neck.

Below: Two Super Jet brand glues (medium/red and thin/blue), furniture powder (used as a filler material, rosewood dust could have also been used), 150-grit adhesive-backed sandpaper, a hard block and the neck itself.

Below: A view of the visible gaps beneath the frets.

Below: Furniture powder being carefully applied with screwdriver.

Below: Applying a very small amount thin grade Jet glue to bond the powder. Note: The thin grade glue has high capillary (as in water-like) consistency to it, hence the reason a very small amount is used. Overuse would have caused it to run through the board out to the other side.

Below: The view after one drop of thin glue was placed in the appropriate area.

Below: Each area that needed filling and gluing is attended to.

Below: Three closer views of filled gaps.

Below: Hard block being used with 150-grit sandpaper adhered to it, leveling off the dried glue and also doing finish sanding for a uniform smooth surface.

Below: The completed sanding. Note: The neck wood at this point is still unfinished and rough, so the sandpaper was used to clear off the extra dust.
