DESCRIPTION

Don't carry the weight of the world on your shoulders! Hipshot's Ultralight Bass Tuning Machines are made of durable, precision machined aircraft-quality aluminum to lighten your load, and give you the correct instrument balance without sacrificing tuning accuracy or durability.

Heavy zinc bass tuners add unnecessary weight to your headstock, straining your neck and shoulder. It also restricts your left hand to holding up an unbalanced instrument, robbing you of the necessary freedom of motion so essential to a natural, relaxed playing technique.

Sleek and compact, easily installed on the smallest of 4, 5, 6 & Extended Range Bass headstocks.

The 3/8" inch diameter version fits basses with a headstock hole size of 9/16 inch.

Bass side = Left side of headstock on a right handed bass. Treble side = Right side of headstock on a right handed bass.

All finish colors have Hipshot Logo. Lighter yet possesses full size gears and string post.

Question: What are the differences between Licensed and USA Ultralite® tuning machines?

Answer: There are a few notable differences between the USA and Licensed Ultralites other than the price:

    Location of Manufacture:
  • The USA Ultralites are machined, finished and assembled in the USA. Some small parts like mount screws are sourced globally.
  • The Licensed Ultralites are made by Hipshot's manufacturing partner in South Korea.
    Materials:
  • The USA Ultralite bodies are machined from solid aluminum.
  • The Licensed Ultralite bodies are cast from zinc.
    Weight:
  • The USA Body is slightly lighter than the Licensed. For an in depth look at the weight comparisons, please see the dimensional drawings for the USA and Licensed Ultralites.
    Dimensions:
  • The 3/8" USA and Licensed Ultralites both fit a 9/16" (14mm) headstock hole.
  • The 1/2" USA Ultralite fits an 11/16" (17mm) headstock hole, while the 1/2" Licensed Ultralite fits a 5/8" (16mm) headstock hole.
    Versatility:
  • The USA Ultralites are reversible, meaning you can take the tuning key out of the body and insert it in the opposite orientation to change the tuner from bass side to treble.
  • The Licensed Ultralites are not reversible. A bass side tuner cannot be reoriented to treble side.
    Finish:
  • The Licensed Ultralites are available in Satin Chrome, Shiny Black, Gold, and Shiny Chrome.
  • The USA Ultralites are available in Satin Chrome, Satin Black, Gold, and Shiny Nickel.

Tuners work, but one is machined different?
By Devin

The tuners seem to work fine, but one tuner has a different screw on the top than the others, and the gear on the back is also different.
