NJ4 Bridge

This is a vintage single coil J style pickup made with 60’s era correct Heavy Formvar wire and Alnico V magnets. In winding these pickups we use a simulated hand wound pattern that lowers the resonant peak of the pickup resulting in a pleasing yet present high end.

These pickups have a very even and full sound with that snap and grind associated with the classic basses of that time.

Includes black covers.

Also available for 7.25" fingerboard radius and Alnico III magnets

These are intended for basses with 7.25" fingerboard radius and have raised A & D poles to provide better sensing and balance.

Alnico III magnets differ from Alnico V in that they are warmer with a softer character. Think of them like a 60’s J style sound taken even further down the warm and fat path. Alnico V by contrast is brighter, cleaner and punchier, and will have a more wiry, stringy character. As another example, we’d recommend Alnico III for fretless or a fat 60’s Jaco type thing and Alnico V is great for a modern slap type thing or an R & B sound.

I put the NJ4 bridge pickup in my 200x G&L JB-2 fretless, it works very well. The treble is less harsh than on the stock pickups, the bottom end is plentiful. Also, the tone seems more uniform with this pickup - more predictable, somehow, which is a good thing. Arrived on Christmas eve *with complimentary gift box* ! A very good webshopping experience.

Great sounding pick ups. Clarity! Nice fundamental!, Seems to have good balance throughout the range of the 1970 p bass. Tight bottom, high end is extremely musical but not clacky or metallic sounding. Thats it. Get some.
