In this case, waiting for a Dingwall inspired the construction of a Dingwall-like instrument.<\/p>\n<p>Bass builder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Dr-Bass-398408267016095\/\">Michael Emmerling<\/a> writes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Inspired by waiting for a Dingwall, and the Dingwall quality, I started building. Kermit is my third completed bass.<\/p>\n<p>Body is made of silky oak and northern ash, contrast layer is ziricote, top is spalted maple.<\/p>\n<p>Neck is one-piece wenge with dual action truss rod and two carbon rods, a ziricote fretboard with 24 frets multiscale (36&#8243; to 33&#8243;) with zero fret, headstock with a matching spalted maple layer. The side markers are Luminlay.<\/p>\n<p>Truss rod cover is ziricote with Luminlay inlays showing the Big Dipper constellation (my first build &#8211; not this one &#8211; was very neck-heavy, a &#8220;big dipper&#8221; \ud83d\ude42 ).<\/p>\n<p>Hardware is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestbassgear.com\/hipshot-ultralight-tuners.htm\">Hipshot Ultralite tuners<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestbassgear.com\/hipshot-solo-bridges.htm\">Hipshot Solo bridges<\/a> mounted on a block of rock maple, and Dunlop Flushmounts.<\/p>\n<p>With the electronics I couldn&#8217;t go past the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestbassgear.com\/catalogsearch\/result\/?cat=0&#038;q=Nordstrand+FD3\">Nordstrand FD3 pickups<\/a> paired with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestbassgear.com\/glockenklang-bass-preamps.htm\">Glockenklang 3-band pre<\/a> (replaced the blend know with a 4-way rotary pickup selector) &#8211; it works so very well in my Dingwall, and it brings out similar som=nic qualities in this build.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/www.bestbassgear.com\/ebass\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/p1011897.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/www.bestbassgear.com\/ebass\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/p1011898.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/www.bestbassgear.com\/ebass\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/p1011902.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/www.bestbassgear.com\/ebass\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/p1011909.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/www.bestbassgear.com\/ebass\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/p1011889.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/www.bestbassgear.com\/ebass\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/p1011886.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/www.bestbassgear.com\/ebass\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/p1011893.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Well done!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Want <i>YOUR<\/i> bass to be featured for Bass of the Week?<br \/><a style=\"text-decoration:underline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bestbassgear.com\/ebass\/bass-of-the-week-entry-form\">Submit yours now using our easy web form<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The devil makes work for idle hands.
