We&#8217;re saying it is &#8211; but just barely. The defining lawsuit of the era was Norlin (owner of Gibson at the time) vs. Elger\/Hoshino U.S.A., filed in June 1977 that ultimately resulted in being settled out of court in February 1978. Now while this doesn&#8217;t cover Fender copy designs specifically, that was the lawsuit where very-close copies of the designs stopped after that, putting the &#8217;77 Ibanez seen here just barely within &#8220;lawsuit era&#8221; territory&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;unless you have a better explanation.
