Berry had a very good bass tone, as heard here in <i>Mountain Jam<\/i>:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tRBz3xJWwGQ?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Berry did play a Fender Jazz Bass, but it was anything but stock. Nicknamed the &#8220;Tractor Bass&#8221;, it was customized with a Guild pickup manufactured by Hagstrom:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.bestbassgear.com\/ebass\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/bo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"544\" height=\"799\"><\/p>\n<p>What is the modern version of this pickup? Guild DS-1, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/guildds1\">and yes, we carry it<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously, it takes a fair amount of modification to stuff one of these into a Jazz Bass. But it is doable.
