So I took him a slab of 1 3\/4&#8243; Michigan White Ash, and he picked out the section he liked.  I carved it out, bought Jazz Bass pickups, and some Tele-style hardware to match his favorite Tele.  This bass still shows the effects of the Emerald Ash borer on the back side, and even a little bark.  It is a one-piece body of naturally harvested, Michigan grown White Ash, a maple neck from StewMac, a modified Tele pick guard, and just simple Danish Oil finish.
