The Talkbass Winter Build-Off<\/a> began in December and this year’s theme was to make a bass predominantly with WALNUT. When I think about walnut basses, the words I think of are “elegant” and “exotic”, so it seemed like I had to really step it up to meet the challenge. Plus, there’s the fact that I knew I was doing this contest with some really good competitors, so this was something where I’d need to pull out as many stops as possible.<\/p>\n When deciding on specs, the overall theme was attempting to use walnut wherever I could and to maximum effect. Making a neck through, “hippie sandwich” bass was always a goal, so this seemed like a perfect opportunity to do that. <\/p>\n The specs are as follows:<\/p>\n – Highly figured walnut facings The end result was definitely the culmination of a lot of hard work and it was a fantastic learning experience.
