This week’s amazing build is the Segura Bass Guitar based off the Renaissance model. It’s a fretted custom build and here is a little bit of what the builder had to share about it:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I was inspired by the profound desire to build a traditional bass with a emphasis on modern line language that would bring the essence of the wood forward. the body and neck share the same wood, hard maple, wenge and padauk . The fretboard is cocoblo with padauk inlays. I used single coil vintage Nordstrand pickups<\/a>. the electronic is an obsidian jazz bass passive<\/a> setup. hardware is Hipshot<\/a> complemented with Labella flat wound strings<\/a>. double action truss rod. I spend the last half of my summer working on that project after long month of planing. I actually build a wood shop to make this piece. It is my first build in thirty years, not to say it was long overdue. Last time I build a bass I focused only on the shape and I thought it was time to redirect that focus on a deeper level, wood selection, general language of the object, tone, and everything else. I looked at it as an introspection to find closure in the craft.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
