This week’s build is a custom job by Steve. Here is a bit about what he had to say:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This one is sold to a special customer…you’ll notice the custom inlay on the fretboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5 string, 34″ scale, 18.5 mm string spacing at the bridge per the customer. That’s all he requested…he left ever other aspect of the build to me.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Neck is a neck through 7 piece laminate. Center is Chechen flanked by two thin strips of rock Maple, Walnut, and the outer parts are quarter sawn rock Maple. The fretboard is a beautiful birdseye Maple.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Body is Alder outers with a Swamp Ash center core. The inlay at the neck joint is Wenge. There is a thin layer of Makore between the body and the bookmatched flamed Maple top. The headstock is capped with the same two woods as is the matching ramp. I dyed the top black to match the black in the neck inlay. The body is finished in a catalyzed urethane…highly polished top and satin back.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Electronics feature a Mike Pope Flexcore2 preamp and Aguilar DCB pickups. The tuners are Hipshot ultralite polished nickel. The bridge is Hipshot chrome plated aluminum. The nut is from Graphtech, and the strings are (owner supplied) Fodera ultralights.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

This thing has tone for miles!!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
