Personally, I call it a headstock.<\/p>\n<p>The distinction between fingerboard and fretboard however is a very easy one to make.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fretboard:<\/strong> A bass guitar that has frets on it.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"fretted\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestbassgear.com\/ebass\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/fretted.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"174\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fingerboard:<\/strong> A bass guitar that has no frets on it.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"fretless\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestbassgear.com\/ebass\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/fretless.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"176\" \/><\/p>\n<p>(Note: The above is a Fender Jaco Pastorious Jazz Bass, which has fretlines but not frets, so it is a fretless instrument.)<\/p>\n<p>So there you go. If there are frets, it&#8217;s a fretboard.
