I’ve had a Korean Make Cort from 2000, so this bass had been with me for quite some time. And since it has been one of my basses most spent music experience I decided to give it an upgrade. At first it was plain simple, new pups and preamp. Eventually became something much more fantastic. The neck remained entirely original. When I got to think about how to give this old friend a new body, I was looking to do it to the max. So I contacted a friend who has his own handmaking instrument workshop, His name is Agung Zulhen from NayAZ Handmade Instruments which is based in Bogor-Indonesia.<\/p>\n

I had just recently bought some new pick ups and a new PA system that was original meant for the C5 eventually thinking to myself why don’t I just take it up a knotch by making it a new body. I chatted with Agung Zulhen and finally this was the rebirth of my C5. <\/p>\n

This beauty now has a mahogany body as the main, the before being topped with rosewood burl it has maple which was meant to only signify the standing out between the mahogany and rosewood burl. To also pump up the looks, giving the pups a maple frame. The pups are now bartolini CF shape, with a Glock Preamp, with 2 individual 3 way switches that controls each pup to max out the features that the pups can provide. The original fortress bridge now replaced with monorails.<\/p>\n

With the new body, there is a difference with the tone compared to the original that was good but this was just an idea to maximize an already good bass. The tone still delivers some original character due to the neck being ultimately still original, but with more warmth and more dimension due to the new composition of the new body.<\/p>\n

I am truly surprised of the outcome by what NayAZ can achieve. This still remains my most valuable bass due to the history we have together.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It’s safe to say there’s not much original Cort left to this Cort. \ud83d\ude42 But in this case that’s okay because the end result looks pretty good!<\/p>\n
