It took seven months of weekends of work, but Scott turned these old pieces of wood – pulled out of a barn – into a beautifully-crafted instrument.<\/p>\n

“I have been playing the bass for a few years with a contemporary worship team. I wanted a quality instrument,”<\/strong> Scott says.\u00a0“I really thought I could take my skills and CNC and build one.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Scott takes us through every step of the process with his 22 step guide at\u00a0Instructables<\/a>, from picking out the materials, to crafting the bass, to installing the hardware.<\/p>\n

“I also was able to acquire some incredible pieces of wood that had been sitting in a barn for probably over 50 years. I had been making some signs with the wood, but when I saw this piece of walnut, I could just picture how to use it on the bass.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

“As far as equipment and component decisions, I did a large amount of reading and studying before I started getting the components. I wanted to build the bass with better components than were used on my current bass.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Scott outfitted his build with Bartolini pickups<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I ran across the Best Bass Gear name on a couple of the forums. Best Bass Gear’s prices were pretty good, and I think I would have bought more components from them if I had known more about what I was doing before beginning the project.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

The lacquer on the bass is still drying, and then it’ll hit the final stage: polishing.<\/p>\n

“Polishing takes place any day now and I am having trouble waiting to see it in its final state and of course I can’t wait to play it.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

“It has been an incredible experience and the bass turned out even better than I expected.”<\/p>\n
