This bass is full of holes, but done so in a very cool way that you don’t see very often.<\/p>\n

Hey there, Last year I decided to become ‘official’ by starting up the Naked Bass and Guitar Company (www.nakedbassandguitar.com<\/a>), a one-man custom bass and guitar shop, after building and experimenting for five or so years. <\/p>\n

This bass is truly one of my most beautiful instruments built to date! I wanted to try my hand with a semi-hollow version of my Hitchhiker design (I wanted to call it the Thumb bass, but as we all know Warwick has that one covered). <\/p>\n

I was slightly inspired by Jerzy Drozd’s Sequel and Legend series concerning the decorative holes into the body cavity. <\/p>\n

The body has a core of African Makore with highly figured Camphor Burl drop top and back. I enjoyed working with the Camphor Burl due to its spicy scent, very nice. <\/p>\n

I put on a matching headstock cap of Camphor, as well as the pickup covers are also from the same billet. <\/p>\n

The neck is two pieces of Honduran Mahogany with a highly figured Cocobolo fretboard. The Cocobolo board this fretboard came from caught my eye at my local lumber store right away and I finally caved in about the fourth time seeing it there. <\/p>\n

One of my signature features on all my instruments is the control cavity cover. It too is matching Camphor Burl held on by four pairs of magnets that make for a seamless transition on the back of the body. Nine times out of ten the cover comes from the same boards that make up the body. <\/p>\n

As for the hardware it is chrome with a Schaller 463 bass bridge, Gotoh Tuners, StewMac knobs and recessed strap locks. <\/p>\n

The strings rest on a hand shaped bone nut. <\/p>\n

The side dot markers and NB logo are Mother of Pearl. The finish is hand rubbed high gloss Tung oil. Lastly, the pickups are a custom set of passive J Bass pups made from a local builder, WhiteOak Pickups, all controlled by a master volume, blend, and master tone knobs. I am quite proud of how well this bass turned out. One more thing, it is for sale \ud83d\ude09 <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
