This week’s bass guitar of the week is another superexotic build by Geo Kitta<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Geo writes: <\/p>\n

This bass is called the Supernova. I designed it after my USA ’93 Fender American Standard 22 fret Jazz bass.  (pic of both also included below ) The 22 fret all maple set-back headstock neck with inset rotary wheel truss-rod adjuster was made to my specs by Dan Ransom (SF\/CA) danransomguitars@yahoo.com<\/a> <\/p>\n

I created the scallop in the headstock post build, which was pre-planned. I also cut the hybrid tusk\/brass nut.  Strings are medium gauge GHS Progressives. The body is red alder and I did the cutting\/routing and shaping, pre-finishing including the ergonomic forearm scallop, rear body bevel and the rear integrated cavity cover Strat-jack. The pickguard was cut from 2-ply creme pearl. Pickups are Delano ovals, bought from BestBassGear<\/a>, powered by an Audere JZ3 9v preamp. The bridge is a Schaller 3D and the cover is a Fender ’51 P style.  The beautiful metallic custom colour\/all finishing was done by Pat Wilkins (Van Nuys\/CA) pat@wilkinsguitars.com<\/a> <\/p>\n

The bass weighs in at a comfortable 8.6lbs and balances well.  The sound is huge with rich harmonic depth and presence. The neck was Plek’d post finishing and the feel is fast and creamy – “melts in your hand”. <\/p>\n

I have plans for a limited edition of it if I can make that happen.  Everything starts with a dream. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
