Out of every single bass line you&#8217;ve ever heard, this is routinely in the top 5 for most players. It just is, and that&#8217;s the way it is. Learn it, love it.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><iframe height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dVBOtXnac_Q?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"560\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>Tips on how to get the &#8220;Good Times&#8221; tone easier<\/h3>\n<p>While true you can pretty much pick up just about any bass to get the &#8220;Good Times&#8221; sound, it does help if you specifically have a bass with a P\/J pickup layout.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is it <em>required<\/em> to have a P\/J? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No. You could use a P or J bass or one loaded with soap bars or a Music Man or whatever you have. <\/p>\n<p>However, the P\/J in particular comes in quite handy here because you have the &#8220;blare&#8221; of the P in front and the &#8220;honk&#8221; of the J in the rear. To get closer to that just-right 1970&#8217;s tone, turning up the J, turning down the P slightly and then rolling off the tone can help out.
