The week’s feature bass is a Alembic-inspired 6-string, and yes, there is a video demo of it below so you can hear what it sounds like<\/strong> (cool!)<\/p>\n

This Alembic inspired single piece six string bass is custom build for Nicholas Skinnell. He wanted an extended range bass that would be flexible enough to allow him to play many styles of music and handle alternate tunings. <\/p>\n

The neck and body of this massive 52-inch long bass with a 35-inch scale are carved from a solid billet of Bubinga and it features Wenge fretboard with custom tree of life inlay. This inlay theme is matched on the headstock and the control cavity cover of the bass. <\/p>\n

For electronics, this bass features EMG<\/a> 45 CS pickups and an EMG Active Balance control. To round out the electrical system we installed the European version of the Spector Tone Pump that will boost the Bass and Treble. <\/p>\n

Unable to find a desirable bridge design, a Kahler 2450-N6 six-string Bass Bridge was modified so it only utilizes the saddles directly mounted to the body for extra punch. <\/p>\n

The tuning machines are Hipshot with two Hipshot Bass X-tenders<\/a> added to accommodate alternate tunings on the fly. <\/p>\n

The nut is fossil mammoth ivory which was selected for its appearance as well as the low friction when using the Hipshot Bass X-tenders.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
