The feature bass for this week has plenty of thump to it.<\/p>\n

I call this bass “60’s White”.  I’ve always liked basses built in the 60’s.  Like many of those this bass’s body is poplar.  Because poplar is know for its lack of sustain, it produces a thump that other woods can’t match.  It’s perfect for recreating the 60’s sound.  It’s painted with a “dead flat” white.  This paint will not reflect light.  Add a pealoid white pick guard and it screams old style.   All my basses have the vinyl back pad.  The neck is from a Hagstrom bass built in, you guessed it, the 60’s, but has extensive rework.  New frets, rosewood fretboard, aged mother of pearl inlays, along with LEDs in the side fret markers.  The preamp<\/a> and center pickup<\/a> are Bartolini.  The neck pickup is Hofner and the bridge pickup is a generic single coil pickup that came out of an old Rogue B-100.  Strings are 100-45 flatwounds of course.  Although I was aiming for the 60’s sound with the different pickups and Bartolini preamp just about any sound is possible with this one.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
