Maurice’s basses have graced our pages before and does so again with this gorgeous 5-string fretless.<\/p>\n

Maurice writes:<\/p>\n

This is a bass that was commissioned by Sandeep Rassaily from Nepal. He is a well known bassist who plays in local bands in Pokhara and Kathmandu. Sandeep wanted a five string fretless with a unique shape highlighting the upper horn and he was keen to have it made from Australian and other exotic woods. Unfortunately after the bass was made, he was unable to take it back to Nepal with him after his Australian tour as he was over weight… so I still have it here with me in Brisbane. <\/p>\n

The body is made from American rock maple, with a Tasmanian Huon pine front veneer. The neck is from figured Tasmanian blackwood with American rock maple stripes, and the fretboard, walnut. I really like the active EMG pickups so have used them yet again in this latest bass, they really sound amazing. I love the plug in electronics being a wood worker, not an electrical engineer. <\/p>\n

The shape is not my favourite, so I added the holes in the upper bout to soften the lines, and the more I look at it the more I like it.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
