This week’s bass guitar of the week is based on a Japanese sword.
Builder Sergey Poedinko writes:
This bass was inspired by Japanese longsword daikatana. Its body and neck is made from two pieces of Sapele with Pao Ferro reinforcement in between. The neck has two truss rods. It’s actually headless but with a head. The bass is finished in Danish oil. It’s multiscale 33″-36″ bass with fanned frets. Fingerboard is made of a beautiful Pao Ferro. On this bass we used our Dahrendorf Neodymium single-string pickups with a passive circuit on a CTS pots. Bridge is our single-string Dahrendorf Shutters. It’s made of a bell brass as well as all hardware.

Most original bass I’ve seen to date. Beautiful design. I wonder if the point at the top the body will be a problem, otherwise I’m inspired.

Wow, very progressive design! Love the clean lines and how it looks to always be in motion with the grain of the wood and the fanned frets leaving the frame from both sides.
Evolutionary thinking and vision. An artistic players delight or an hackers bragging toy. Either wau, a superbly executed manifestation of ideas, bound bu yje sunergy of its components resulting in a work of art that can and will demand creative art come forth from it. BIG SALUTE!
