The song is This Christmas by Donny Hathaway, and it has one of the smoothest, cleanest bass lines you’ll ever hear. It’s also not easy to pull off as a cover, but YouTube user ming2006 did a darned fine job at it.
To note: This is a song that does allow room for improvisation, which is to say you don’t have to get it exactly on the mark note-for-note for it to sound good. Songs with really good bass lines permit you to do that.
