For a first bass build, this is pretty darned good. (It is most likely true the builder has previous guitar building experience, and this is his first specific bass guitar instrument.)

My brother commissioned me to build this bass for his son as a college graduation gift. This gift was no surprise to my nephew, so he supplied me with a complete design and parts list, after all this was going to be his custom bass, I was just the builder. This was my first bass build.
The body is ash and the top is cocobolo and the neck is all maple. It is finished with a clear satin catalyzed lacquer.
The neck pickup is a Delano JC4 AL/H and the bridge is a Delano Hybrid4. They run through a Delano Sonar2 EQ. It’s both passive and active. It’s basically a Fender Jazz and a Music Man Stingray, I named it JazzStinger.
The hardware is a Schaller bridge and Hipshot tuners. My nephew did graduate and he loves his new bass…and his uncle.
