Another month is down, and with June around the bend, the summer is starting to bear down on us. We kept busy here at eBass during a big month for Best Bass Gear. May saw BBG approaching 20,000 “likes” on our Facebook page, and we decided to give back to our fans with a contest to giveaway $1,500 to spend at BestBassGear.com.
We remembered two great figures the bass community lost this month. Legendary soul bassist Donald “Duck” Dunn of Booker T andthe McGs and The Beastie Boy’s Adam Yauch.
Best Bass Gear Tech Max had a couple more How-to videos, showing us how to install a battery box in your bass, and some tips and tricks for replacing your bass’ knobs.
We saw how a little stripping, sanding, and staining can bring an old pawn shop bass new life, and how an ol’ Commodore 64 was reborn into a Bass Keytair.
In our Gig Bag Essentials series we looked at two staples of a gig bag, duct tape and a power strip.
And we took a look at what exactly an Alnico magnet is, and where Fret sprout comes from.
There were some great Bass of the Week submissions, including Leonardo Perromojao Mordini’s Naga, and Tad Sharpe’s rebuilt ’60s NORMA bass.
And we saw some new basses, like Fender’s Reverse Jaguar and Spector’s Coda Deluxe.
Thanks again for all the comments, Bass of the Week submissions, and sharing our posts. If there is anything you’d like to see eBass cover, let us know in the comments!
