While This Christmas by Donny Hathaway has smooth bass lines in it that everyone likes, Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses is one of those love-it-or-hate-it modern (as in “not traditional”) Christmas songs. But even if you hate it, the bass line is pretty good.
The good bass line doesn’t start until 24 seconds in as the intro drags a bit. But once it does kick in, yes it does work.
Here is a cover of the song (and a good one):
Here is the original studio release:
The nice part about the original is that it does have a very pronounced bass line you can hear easily.
The level of difficulty to play this song isn’t easy, but isn’t very difficult either; it would be best described as an intermediate level of difficulty to learn and play.
What will throw you off more than anything else while learning this is the timing of the song. The bulk of the rhythm is “straight,” but then has a few parts that have some weirdness going on. You’ll jump from straight to a swing and then back again, hear instruments “fighting” against each other in certain parts, and so on.
Christmas Wrapping is a weird song. But it has some good bass lines in it that are worth learning. 🙂

Sounds fun
Two Christmas songs I wouldn’t mind hearing more often. Thanks for sharing.
Need more covers
