  1. What is the scale? Does it suffer from the dreaded Gibson/Epiphone neck-dive?
Appearance-wise, I’ve never really warmed up to the SG shape.

  2. Looks nice, but I’ve never been impressed with Gibson basses. Noted for lack of tone. Never liked short scale basses either. Meh.

    • Depends on what “tone” you’re after. Most basses today lack the tone I want: BASS(!), as in unadulterated RICH LOW NOTES unpolluted with twangy mids.

  3. My first professional bass was a Gibson EB3. For a player like myself with a smallish hand, the short scale made this was an ideal instrument. However, tuning issues were a problem, and this instrument features the same bridge as the one I owned. Also, I’ve never been a fan of the large humbucking pickup. A nostalgic looking piece with some possible shortcomings.

  4. Jack Bruce and Andy Frazer stopped using this bass a long time ago for a myriad of reasons – none of which seem to have been addressed on this new model.

  5. This bass is unique and it is actually buile better that the EB’s of the 70’s, whch lacked a neck angle. Try playing it with a pick and remember that its a short scale bass. The tone will be different than along scale instrument.
