Yet another unnamed bass arrived in the featureme@bestbassgear.com inbox, so this one is called “11” because of the neck layers as the builder, Gene, describes below.
Gene writes:
This is my second custom Bass build and my first neck through design. I really enjoyed this build because it gave me the ability to work with some gorgeous woods. The tone wood was a “by accident” find when on a trip in CA. I just happen to see it there in their shorts stack and I could not resist it. The Neck is 11 layers and taper to the head stock allow all layers to continue all the way done the neck. I hope you enjoy!
Tone wood – Cocobolo
Body – Wenge
Neck – Wenge, Padauk, Mahogany , Curly Maple.
Pickup – EMG
Pre-amp – Aguilar OBP-3 with Preamp by pass and Mid shift switches. Prewired by Best Bass Gear.
Well done, Gene!

Thanks all, I am overwhelmed with your responses. As a newer Luther the positive feedback truly helps. I have been a woodworker has a hobby for most of my life, I only recently melded my love for music and woodworking together. The Guitar building started as a bucket list item being checked off and has become my primary woodworking interest. I would be more than happy to entertain custom builds for others.
