[Bass of the Week] ACS Custom Bass Headless Drop D II

This week’s bass is a custom build by Ademir Coelho de Souza who created his own custom instrument. Here is a bit about what he had to say of the build:

This bass was inspired by the Phillip Kubicki bass Factor.  It was all made with Brazilian woods: the body is marupá, the neck 5 pcs Imbuia/Amapá, gombeira fingerboard, with ACS Drop D system,  scale length 32/36 on 4th string when dropped. Hipshot headless bridge, EMG 35HZ pickups, Bartolini NTMB918 preamp, active.

So, what do you think of Ademir’s build? BTW – If you’re going to comment, whether it be positive or negative, please keep it constructive! We don’t approve of haters. [Comment below]

    • Thanks Nick.
There is a kind of round button on the back of the neck, when is pressed inside with the thumb, a kind of string retainer on figerboard next nut, release the string, so you push the string to the side and release the button and the retainer goes inside the figerboard.

  1. Very Nice mate. Love the “C” extension, just like our double basses – except yours is D. Excellent.
Nice to see the wider bridge / tuner set. Used to love my Hohner headless – but the strings were too close together. This look perfect.
Thanks for sharing- hope you get some sales from this, you deserve it.

  2. Hey..my name is Jeff .. I play in
Circuit band out of Florida , US
    The Mr. Bill Show
    I mainly play Kubicki Ex-Factors I
use the Low D on about 50% of the
tunes we play ..I originally saw the
purple headless on IG .. I searched
It back to Ademir’s page. We got to
talking and I realized I had to have one
I was actively looking for another Factor
So I decided to have Ademir build me one … it’s currently in the early stages .. and should have it by the end 2021 .. ..needless to say .. I can not wait to get it
