[Bass of the Week] Bartlett JJE

This week’s feature bass has a fingerboard with a contrasting wood species for the octave frets.

Builder Ben Bartlett writes:

I built this bass for someone who bought one of my last basses. It has an ebony fretboard with American holly on the 12th and 24th frets. The pickups are Nordstrand Big Splits. The preamp is a Mike Pope Flexcore, Bridge Volume/Master Tone stacked, Neck Volume control, Treble/Bass stacked, Hi Mid control, Lo Mid control, Active/Passive toggle switch. The tuners and Bridge are Hipshot. It has a Hotrod Dual action truss Rod and a custom made brass nut. 35″ scale. The top wood is Cocobolo with a Mahogany core and maple back. The neck is Wenge, Purpleheart and Flame Maple.
