This week’s bass guitar of the week comes from Millar Guitars.
Builder Benjamin Millar writes:
Custom built for a client who wanted to replicate the feel of his first fretless bass. Taking the old bass as a reference, measurements of all the key body contact points in relation to the string mensur were taken into account when working on the design of the new bass (arm rest, leg rest, strap button location and neck profile).
The Delano pickups provide a full range, modern base sound, while the piezo pickups give a very woody “upright” tone.
Between the different pickup combinations and the incredibly flexible John East onboard preamp, this bass is a very versatile instrument.
Construction: Fretless, 4 strings, bolt-on neck.
Scale length: 863mm.
Alder body, chambered / Spalted maple top.
5 piece maple/ebony neck.
Ebony fingerboard.
Weight: 3.450kg (inc. strings).
Hardware: Hipshot ultralight tuners. Hipshot “A” style bridge. Loxx strap locks.
Electronics: Pickups – Delano Xtenders. Preamp – John east U-retro. Graph Tech ghost piezo saddles. Brass nut.
Finish: Semi gloss clear nitro finish.

She sure looks like a comfortable player. Well done, Benjamin!
