Bass of the Week: Brad Sourdiffe’s first build

This week’s BotW comes from Brad Sourdiffe. It’s his first build, and it looks like he did a heck of a job for a first-timer.

This is my first bass. It is a short scale bass I made using a Danelectro neck, the hollow body is curly birch on the front, mahogany on the back, & has 2 EMG 35-TW pickups. Sounds amazingly good. I’m going to be making more soon…I love the EMGs.

And here’s a shot of the back to see the interesting contrast of the mahogany to the birch front.

Specs:

  • 2 EMG 35-TW Pickups
  • Short Scale Bass
  • Danelectro neck
  • Hollow body design
  • Birch front
  • Mahogany back

  1. Nice bass love the look. Love the birch front. Mahogany back confused me thought a hahogany center strip would be great. But I love your design. I would buy it today. Live to find out more. Got any for sale?

  4. These are out right gorgeous pics Gabriel. You guys are true blue natur-al!!! I love all the pics, hovewer, I guess my favorite would be the pic of you two with me viewing you as I peak through the blossoms. some blossoms are sharp and others hazy which makes the picture and focus of you two just way too good. Love it! The one of Kalend and you with the guitar is really a charming and happy pic. The photographer did a fantastic job and sure is a good sport ~ like you guys. These are precious ~ just as I hope your life together will be. Blessings on your life.
