[Bass of the Week] Montgomery Goldtop Bass

See the business listing for this bass builder here

A pleasant gold top makes an appearance for this week’s feature bass.

Builder Keith Montgomery from www.montgomery-guitars.com writes:

I have always loved the look of a gold top Les Paul, so this is my single cut gold top bass.

Body is Honduran mahogany, carved maple cap with binding, flame maple neck, ebony fret board and gold fret wire.

This bass has a three band EQ with EMG Victor Wooten pickup set, Pope preamp with push/pull active passive, 18 volt system, Hipshot A bridge and Hipshot tuners.

Very well balanced bass and really nice action. Also has 1 1/2″ nut width.

  1. At first glance, wasn;t sure sure how much I like it until I saw the cream binding, body back and the neck heel. Great work! A perfect mix of classic looks with a progressive twist!

    • I’ve been proudly playing Keith’s instruments for years now. You couldn’t ask for a more versatile instrument. That bass has been a lot of places and a lot of recordings now. -Todd Parks
