[Bass of the Week] Nichols Guitar Co. The "Dylan" Bass

See the business listing for this bass builder here

The feature bass for this week is a 35-inch scale beauty made of holly.

Builder Evan Nichols from www.facebook.com/nicholsguitarco writes:

I wanted to build a sleek streamlined Bass. I originally bought a Holly top and was blown away by it and it gave me the idea to do an all Holly Bass. The body, neck and top are all Holly. There are ebony laminates and veneers in the body and neck to accent the shape and show high contrast against the Holly. The fingerboard is made from African Blackwood. This 35″ scale 5 string has Hipshot tuners and bridge, Delano xtender pickup along with the Darkglass Tone Capsule preamp. The finger markers on the side are fiber optics lit by an LED controlled by a knob near the bridge.

  1. Love the fretboard’s partially distressed treatment. Cool Headstock shape and design! Aesthetically pleasing all around!

  2. I played a bass with a Delano Xtender pickup and they sound natural AND full. I can only imagine how it sounds. Very nice design, great craftsmanship.
