We added in a field for YouTube video demonstration to our Bass of the Week web form, and this submission was the first to use it – and use it well!
Builder Cor Broekhuizen of Suprema Guitars writes:
For a long time i dreamed to build a 5 string bass. I want to feel the low B string.
Used woods:
Head: maple/purpleheart
Neck: 3 pieces Maple/2 pieces Purpleheart
Body: Ash/front Purpleheart
Hardware: Schaller
Pickups: Bartolini
Controls: 2 volume push-push, 2 tone, 3-way switch. Result; 8 switch possibilities.

And yes, a video demo!
Well done, Cor!

Top bass from an unknown to me luthier !
Sweet!
nice to see a demo without the slapping and popping……beautiful bass!, not sure about the 4 to 1 tuning pegs. would look more balanced with 3 to 2 or 2 to 3
If you’re going to make a video to show how it sounds, there’s no point in it if that sound stinks.
Would have been nice to see a side view or close up to check the color transition. Nice job!
Lovely work. The laminations and contour of the body remind me a bit of the Alembic’s that Mark King used to use (and maybe still does…).
don’t play 5 strings but a good looking bass nonetheless.
