[Bass of the week] DJP Lotus bass

See the business listing for this bass builder here

The feature bass this week is nice blend of different woods that make for an excellent appearance while at the same time making for a great player’s bass.

Builder Dan Petrovic from DJP Guitars writes:

My inspiration for this bass comes from the timeless beauty of nature, which contributes to the majority of my design ideas.

This lotus flower inspired bass features a hand-sculpted body made of wild Cherry, figured Maple, Walnut, Quinilla, Tiete Rosewood, and African Mahogany on the back.

The string through design and solid construction gives her sustain for days.

Scale length is 34 inches, with a 12 inch fretboard radius featuring wide/medium nickel silver frets.

Bone nut width is 1.55″.

The perfectly Quarter-Sawn Maple bolt-on neck and Bloodwood fretboard sports Mother of Pearl leaf inlays and side dot markers.

Dual action “spoke nut truss rod” makes adjusting the neck relief quick and simple.

The headstock is also adorned with a floral motif made up of the same woods as the rest of the guitar + the celtic knot DJP logo.

Strung up with D’Addario EXL 45‘s gives you the versatility of bright popping tones as well as deep mellow lows when the tone knob is rolled back.

Hardware includes Gotoh tuning machines, an adjustable Hipshot bridge, Dunlop strap locks, and matching metal knobs.

The pickups are Bartolini 9J1 L/S for that vintage J-bass sound.

CTS volume and tone control pots are shielded for quiet operation, along with an electrosocket that never comes loose.

I also made a custom wall hanger shelf to display her.

Finished with several thin coats of poly.

Well done!
