  1. well, peter gabriel wasn’t really involved. it was tony levin and the drummer [i forget his name] that played on the album So. gabriel did come up with the original idea for tony levin’s ‘funk fingers’ which, if anyone’s interested, are now back in production after more than ten years.

  2. Around 1970, I saw a band called Clouds, sandwiched between John Sebastian and Jethro Tull (Bill Graham had a sense of humor). I’m pretty certain they covered “Sing, Sing, Sing” with the drummer playing the bass with sticks while the bassist worked the left hand. The bassist was using a new P bass but switched to a pre CBS one for the “sticks” solo. I assume this was so his new bass wouldn’t get beat up…
