EMG releases 5-string American Standard J Set

Bassists with 5-string American Standard Jazz basses rejoice, EMG has released a version of their popular J Set pickups specifically for you.

The pickups are designed and constructed exactly like their celebrated 4-string jazz pickups, but now with to the specifications to fit your American Standard jazz bass.

J Set pickups make use of radiused ceramic bar magnets which gives you a tight mid-range punch and dynamic high end response, without any extra noise. All with the sweeping harmonic overtones and clarity that you are looking for in a great jazz tone.

Out now, available only in a black plastic casing, the EMG J5 has a retail price of $209, but order it today from Best Bass Gear for only $159.

  2. Thanks for your comments! That makes pefrect sense about the battery ground, I’m kind of embarrassed I didn’t think of that. It is definitely a good thing to have a way to break the circuit, but I really would have rather them put a switch on the output jack or something like that. I really don’t like having to unplug the guitar everytime I’m done with it.As for the external power supply, I was concerned that it will add noise to the signal. I might try to rig it up and see how bad it is. I just wish there was something better than putting that damn battery in the control cavity.
