How to install new tuning machines

Best Bass Gear tech Max is back with another video guide, this time showing us how to install a set of new Hipshot HB7 tuners.

He has some tips and tricks to make the process as simple and easy as possible, and he tackles some issues you might run into – including how to fill holes in case your new drill pattern is effected by the previous holes.

Quick Tips and Tricks

  • Easily and safely removing tuner bushings with just a tapered dowel
  • Avoid hammering your peghead by using a clamp to insert new bushings
  • Use a T-Square to layout the tuner base plates for a perfectly aligned look
  • Filling previous drill pattern holes using narrow dowels, a flush cutter, and a touch of superglue
  • Insert your tuning machines screws more easily with the help of bar soap as a lubricant

  1. There are plenty of relaly bad mics and pres down in the cheap range that you will never get decent results with But I can note that you can get decent stuff used in this soft buyers market that is happening right now Ive bought AT40 series for the same price used as some new Behringer stuff goes for new that is a point that needs to be made.As far as Im concerned you can pay for a u47 but get a similer sound out of an AT4047 Ill go for the Audio Technica every time that allows me to have this hobby and eat too.

  2. Another great article Joe. I rellay enjoy your site.I guess another way to look at things is that it’s a great challenge to try and extract as much as you can from cheaper gear. I have a Studio Projects B1 LDC and an SM58. Looking at some cheaper pencil condensors next.I’m relatively new to recording, but I find it fun and challenging to see what works well in terms of mic type and placement with my different instruments.

  4. This is an example of a comenmt, you could edit this to put information about yourself or your site so readers know where you are coming from. You can create as many comenmts like this one or sub-comenmts as you like and manage all of your content inside of your website control panel.

  5. I didn’t consider the aavtar on feeds a bug at all. As a matter of fact, I *want* them to show up on my feeds as they’re an integral part of most posts. Is there a piece of code I can delete to retain this functionality? Or should I just not upgrade the plugin?
