[Bass of the Week] ASG JRS55 Concept Bass

The feature bass this week features a very nice 5 piece ash construction.

One of my models which called “J Bass” I had the honor to present to your attention in 2014. It was selected by you as the Bass of the week. I’m full of gratitude to you to this day and will always remember this. Thank you very much. Today I want to show you my first five-stringed prototype, which continues the J Bass series. The main feature of this bass that the neck shaped according to the strings tension and confronts them independently. The truss rod is only needed for insurance and for setup. So, here are some specs of this bass.

5 piece Ash / Mahogany / Indian Rosewood chambered body. Curly Maple top. 10″- 16″ compound radius West Indian Rosewood fingerboard. 3 piece Rock Maple / 2 piece Black Walnut Neck. KTS Titanium Double Action Truss Rod. KTS Titanium Neck Reinforcement Rods. Carbon Fiber Neck Reinforcement Rods. Delano pickups. Aguilar OBP-3 onboard preamp. Babicz FCH bridge. Hipshot pegs.

I would like to take this opportunity and wish you happy holidays, peace and prosperity in the new year.

Well done!

  1. Really well done bass design and workmanship. The Aguilar electronic and the wood combinations should sound very good together. Did you stay with a 34″ scale or go longer because of the 5th string? I would love to hear it.

    • Thank you very much John! The scale is 35 inches. Yes, 5th string is big reason to go to longer scale. But I thinк I have to make 34″ 5 string bass too. I’ll post the link here when demo will be done.
