[Bass of the Week] Carrigan Designs Oberon

The feature bass this week is a fretless beauty.

Owner Rob Paschall writes:

Wenge neck and body with ebony fretless board.
17mm string spacing, 1.75 nut width
Nordstrand MM5.4, each with 3 way switch for series, “single”, parallel.
Active/passive push pull on master volume
Blend
3 band Delano preamp

I wanted a versatile tone machine, this is it. James Carrigan was great to work with. This is my number one bass.

  1. This Bass must have a ton of Growl;which is something I really like. The Design is Beautiful, contemporary and very original,a combination that is hard to Design. I would love to hear this !

  2. A nice looking bass (that over used word ) almost “organic!” Interesting to see it all in dark timber. Wenge is a pretty dense timber, heavier than rock maple – it would be interesting to know how much it weighs? I’m sure it sounds good and is a dream to play. Does it have position markers?
