[Bass of the Week] Giorgio Benedettini 1410

See the business listing for this bass builder here

This week’s feature bass design started with the string retainer and was built from there.

Builder Giorgio Benedettini writes:

Hi, I’m a luthier form Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

This Bass started with the idea of a coin used as a string retainer. Then I designed everything else.

The top is Redwood, mahogany and peroba body, maple neck with ebony fingerboard, and two carbon fiber rods beside the truss rod.

Jumbo frets, with Bartolini MV5CBJD pickups, James Demeter preamp, Schaller tuners and Hipshot A Style bridge.

It’s aimed for recording, (its a bit heavy and very solid), with various tones to select, from deep sound of the quad humbucker to clean inner and outer coil split.

With low action, for those who like to fly on the fingerboard.

  1. The old ‘n ‘good combination: A skill Luthier, BrazĂlian top Woods and pro international hardware and eletronics!
In my 30 years playing all kinds of special basses this combination ever works well.
This instrument,in particular, is very handsome and guess the richness of great sounds are possible to reach.
    Congrats.

    • Different people, different tastes. The player of this one like no pickups under his fingers. It can be made under customer needs. Thanks for your reply.

  2. Top Gear!

I’ve played on this one and I can say, no doubt, this is a unique masterpiece.

Solid, great tone range possibilites, low action strings provides easier fast-playing pizzicato and tapping.

The closer neck pickup created wide and good space to play between pickups and explore this feature.

    10/10.
