Good things come to those who wait. This bass took several months to build, and the end result was wonderful.
Builder Tony Walters from www.manabasso.com writes:
This bass was a custom build that i made for Rick Bouvette of Joy Tribe earlier this year. It took many months of deliberation to arrive at what would be the best combination of woods both tonally, and aesthetically. Based on experience from past builds, I had recommended Wenge and/or Padouk for their exceptionally exquisite tonal qualities. After waxing and waning and pondering the possibilities, Rick finally came up with this wood combination and layout, and the idea was set into motion. The body woods are Padouk, Wenge, and Swamp Ash (in order front to back), the neck woods are Wenge, Padouk, and Flamed Maple (from center to edge), with a Birdseye Maple fretboard. The neck construction consists of tapered laminations for superior strength and sound transmission, and features my signature headstock designed for the same.
The electronics in this beauty are all Nordstrand Fastback 6 pickups with their 3 band active eq.
I also installed an active/passive switch with a single coil setting for that extra boost, as well as a high/lo mid switch. Rick was looking for a highly flexible tonal range, with transparent highs and thick lows. This setup definitely delivers.
The hardware is Hipshot, both bridge and tuning machines.
This bass also features hand made knobs to match the body laminations. Although this is my Glade single cut-away model, Rick and I gave her the name “Synchronicity” for the many coincidences and such that occurred during her design and construction. I don’t have a sound clip to post yet, but hopefully soon. I should give a big thanks BBG, you guys have been my favorite online supplier for years!

Well done!

woah
absolutely beautiful bass.
What a gorgeous instrument!
One of the most beautiful basses I have seen! Great job!
This is a fascinating bass not only because of this beautiful disign but also because of carefully selected wood material.
“Fastback” Nordies? I’ll have to check those out!
Incredibly Beautiful Instrument–
Love it
Thats actually an auto-correct type-o. They are Nordstrand FatStacks rather
That has got to be one of the most attractive Bass of the Weeks so far! Not only is the fine craftsmanship evident, the selection of woods used shows excellent taste in aesthetics. Beautiful!
Great design and beautiful wood selection. Love the headstock design and the way the body is carved out on the back where the neck joins the body.
IF BUILDING IS WHAT YOU DO…THIS IS THE WAY TO SELL IT!….BEAUTIFUL TO THE EYE….COLORS ASTOUNDING
Nice details everywhere from the triangle at the back of the headstock to the breaks in the contour of the guitar body. From the color and type of woods, headstock curl, balance and versatility, this is a wonderful bass.
Very striking and attractive looking bass. Although it suits the visual balance, just have a slight slight concern over the fine pointed horn on the cutaway, hope it doesn’t fall on it one day and snap off with the short grain there?
I’ve heard Rick play this bass. Its phenomenal. Perfect match. Bass Guitar and Bass Guitarist.
These are as stunning in person. I saw the display and spoke with Mr. Walters briefly at the Tacoma guitar convention at the T-Dome. By far the most skilled craftsman in the entire convention.
Very nice piece of work Bruzin!!! Can’t wait to hear it.
Amazingly beautiful. Incredible all the way around
