While this is sure to ruffle the feathers of the traditionalist “anything more than 4 strings is too much” players, YouTube user AJPiszcz shows us that yes, you can sweep pick on a bass with fingers…
…provided you have a 7-string. 🙂
Cool or not? Watch the video below and you decide. Post a comment or two with your opinion.

Should’ve waited till he had the technique down better before posting a video. But it was cool.
Always good to see a 7 string out there!!
Why didn’t you setup the camera to show both hand sat once? Also, it is kind of hard to place it anywhere musically so easy to place in the redundant and no longer in use bass tricks category.
Nothing to do with playing a BASS GUITAR at all. Would make a very fair GUITAR PLAYER though.best
Plat some bass boy and leave guitar plating to guitarists.
His technique is not bad, but can use some more tweaking. He should slow down a bit and clean it up.
Nothing really new- was messing with this on a four string in 1989 or so.
Also listen to a band called Zero Hour if you like this style.
Thanks for the recommendation! Never heard of them before!
BBut can you lay down a groove ?
Get a Strat…
I’m laughing at all the people here with no chops! lol just because you can’t do it doesn’t mean it’s not bass playing.
Yeah, he has some chops, but my question is why? Is this really bass playing or gymnastics?
Anyone can go to their kitchen and fry an egg, then fry another, then fry another until you fry the whole dozen of eggs. After 12 eggs, you can probably fry an egg decently – are you a chef?
Pushing the boundaries of instrument design and performance/application technique is how any form of art progresses.
