This week’s BotW is a custom build Jazz Bass, concentrating on “staying true” to Fender design.

Builder Milos Tomisic writes:

Inspiration is 60’s Jazz Bass. It was made on order for a session musician. Body is alder, neck is hard Bosnian maple with rosewood fretboard, bridge and tuners are classic Fender replacement, and pickups are Fender 60’s Custom Shop. Electronics are passive and it has and NOS Russian paper in oil tone cap. Finish is polyurethane, frets are Fender vintage or 6230 Dunlop replacement.

I think it’s safe to say that some of you out there would want one of these just based on the quality of the finish and neck wood grain alone, never mind the fact the rest of the instrument is wonderful Jazz Bass simplicity at its finest.

Well done, Milos!

  1. I plead ignorance: I do not know what a “NOS Russian paper in oil tone cap” is. I know that NOS is new old stock, but what is Russian paper? Oil tone cap?

  2. It’s a beautiful and classic looking bass, but I am confused… does it have Fender vintage frets OR does it have 6230 Dunlop replacement frets?
